About Course
The ultrasound scan training is a practically-oriented, e-learning series of courses that use a combination of e-lecture notes, videos and face-to-face format. There are both Online and Classroom teaching. Each e-lecture note (article) also comes with accompanying text, talking you through the skills. The ultrasound scan training is a practically-oriented, e-learning series of courses that use a combination of e-lecture notes, videos and face-to-face format. There are both Online and Classroom teaching. Each e-lecture note (article) also comes with accompanying text, talking you through the skills. This is practicalized during a person-to-person classroom demonstration. For online participants, using our videos will allow you to get the first-person perspective when learning how to master ultrasound scan skills. Online teaching is now known to equip and update medical practitioners with the required knowledge & skills of basic ultrasound scan required to begin general ultrasound scanning for better clinical diagnosis & practice. Ultrasound itself is an easy, relatively harmless and quick to access technique to visualize structures inside the human body. Although, it has been used for many decades in the medical practice, current technological developments in ultrasound imaging with its new possibilities have improved clinical diagnostics.

Properties of Ultrasound
Properties of Ultrasound You are here Home Properties The following are the main properties of ultrasonic waves: • The ultrasonic waves cannot travel through vacuum. • The ultrasonic waves are high frequency sound waves with smaller wavelength. • These waves travel with speed equal to the speed of sound in a given medium. • Their velocity remains constant in homogeneous media. • These waves can produce heating effect and weld certain plastics, metals etc. • These can produce vibrations in low viscosity liquids. • They act as catalytic agents to accelerate chemical reactions. • The ultrasonic waves are reflected and refracted just like light waves. • The speed of ultrasonic waves or acoustic waves is more in denser medium.

Introduction: Glossary of Ultrasound Terminologies
Ultrasound is a mechanical vibration that typically propagates in the frequency range of 20 KHz – 20 MHz as a wave of pressure, through a transmission medium such as a gas, liquid or solid. It is any sound having a frequency greater than the upper limit of human hearing. The various ranges of sound waves are the following:
Infrasound: Sound in the frequency range 0 – 25 Hz
Audible sound: Sound in frequency range 20 Hz – 20 KHz
Ultrasound: Sound in frequency range 20 KHz – 20 MHz
Ultrasound for sonar application = 20 -100 KHz
Ultrasound for flow detection = 100 KHz – 1 MHz
Ultrasound for medical diagnosis = 1 – 20 MHz
In medical ultrasound, ultrasound waves are used at a very high frequency such that as the echos bounce back, an image is produced called a sonogram.
